Migraines and tension headaches treatment pioneer Dr Elliot Shevel has published numerous scientific studies and publications in national and international peer reviewed medical journals on his breakthrough treatments for migraine and tension headaches. Dr Shevel has been appointed a peer reviewer for "Cephalalgia", the official journal of the International Headache Society, "The European Journal of Neurology", the "Medical Science Monitor", the "International Journal of Clinical Practice", "Headache", the official journal of the American Headache Society, which specifically targets migraines, tension headaches, and cluster headaches, and "Clinical and Experimental Medical Letters". Dr Shevel was also invited to propose the topic and conclude the debate on the vascular component of migraine at the 3rd International Congress on Controversies in Neurology in Prague. Dr Shevel is the founder and chairman of the South African branch of the International Headache Society.
In collaboration with migraine researchers from the European and American Headache Societies and Harvard Medical School’s Department of Neurology, has spearheaded the development of highly effective treatment modalities for migraines and tension headaches.
In his capacity as Medical Director of The Headache Clinic, a position he has held since the clinic’s inception in 1992, Dr Shevel heads a team of migraine and tension headache specialists, practitioners and researchers whose primary aim is the better understanding of migraine and tension headache. This team includes surgeons, physiotherapists, neurologists, general practitioners (GPs), radiologists, dental specialists and psychologists, amongst others. The members of this team have been extensively trained in the diagnosis of migraines, tension headaches, and cluster headaches, according to the protocols laid down by Dr Shevel.
Funded by the Italian and South African governments, Dr Shevel’s research programmes into migraine and tension headache symptoms are receiving increased international attention. This facilitates and drives new breakthroughs in the treatment of migraines, tension headaches, and cluster headaches.
Patients suffering from migraines and tension headaches can now look forward to a pain-free future. Even cluster headaches often respond when the correct protocols are employed. The main object of these protocols is to treat migraines, tension headaches, and cluster headaches without the use of drugs. Migraine rescue drugs often cause Medication Overuse Headache, and migraine and tension headache preventive drugs are often either ineffective, or patients find that the side effects are worse than the migraines or tension headaches. For this reason, migraine and tension headache sufferers often stop taking the migraine and tension headache preventive medications, preferring instead to suffer with their migraines or tension headaches.
In radio and television interviews, Dr Shevel constantly emphasises the importance of safe and effective ways of treating migraines, tension headaches, and cluster headaches without the use of drugs. These procedures, which can relieve the extreme symptoms associated with chronic migraines and tension headaches and avoid possible pain-killer addiction, have changed many people’s lives significantly.
Effective treatments of migraines and tension headaches, based on sound scientific principles, are at last available. Those unfortunate people who suffer from migraines and tension headaches can now look forward to living without the constant threat of being laid low by a migraine or tension headache. The new treatments of migraines and tension headaches developed by migraines and tension headaches pioneer Dr Elliot Shevel has brought renewed hope to millions of migraine and tension headache sufferers.
